The Merlins youth team from Centreville won the elementary school division 
at last Saturday's World Series of Birding competition.  Alyssa Walls and 
Danny Lenchner (co-captains), Andi Hilton, Robbie Pfeiffer, Nick Beres and 
Charles Lansinger hit the road at 4:30 am on Saturday morning and, 118 
species later, they finished their day at 8:30 pm at the Meadows.  Believe 
it or not, they were a bit disappointed with their total because they did 
not beat their total from last year and that was their goal.  They all had 
lots of fun and lots of good birds.
