There was a singing mourning warbler this morning about 7:30am in the
montgomery section of rock creek park several hundred feet south of the
capital crescent trail crossover (near chevy chase). As I was walking south
along the trail I heard two chip notes that I had to write off as
'interesting' after a bit of gentle pishing didn't pan out. On my way back
north along the trail near the same spot, I heard the nice rolling two part
song that couldn't have been more than 20 or 30 feet away deep and low down
in the thicket along the creek. Unfortunately, try as I might, I could not
get eyes on the bird.
