I met Bill Schreitz both yesterday and this morning out at SPSP. Bill
was doing his May Count and I was happy to help before I had to go
sing at a wedding.
The highlights:
1 RUDDY TURNSTONE (Sat)
4 Sanderling (One bird on Sat, 4 today)
1 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL (Sat)
45+ Caspian Tern (both days, numbers increased Sunday)
1 Common Tern (Sat)
1 Warbling Vireo (Singing at the entrance on Sat, nearly attacking me
at the phrag pond at the Northern tip of the park on Sun)
1 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER (East Beach on Sun)
1 Semipalmated Plover (Sun)
6 Semipalmated Sandpiper (both days)
7 Least Sandpiper (both days)
2 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER (both days for Bill, Sunday for me)
1 Wilson's Snipe (Sun)
5 Laughing Gull
1 Eastern Wood-Pewee (Sun)
1 VESPER SPARROW (Sun at the North parking lot w/ two Savannahs)
2 NELSON'S SPARROW (Sun at the rock wall / phrag pond)
1 Summer Tanager (Seen, not singing)
1 Scarlet Tanager (Seen, singing)
25 Indigo Bunting (An absolute underestimate... as these birds were
all over the skies apparently migrating throughout the morning)
4 Bobolinks (both days)
Other notables, a Cliff Swallow at the turf farms on Whitehall Road
(Sat) and a singing Wilson's Warbler in the yard a few minutes ago.
Good Birding,
