Hi all,

Despite the weather, Mike Owstrowski and I had a great time birding around
Garrett County with a little time spent in Allegany at the end yesterday.
Garrett highlights included MOURNING (migrant at Youghiogheny Reservoir),
BAY BREASTED, TENNESSEE, GOLDEN-WINGED, BLUE-WINGED, and "BREWSTER'S" (F1)
WARBLERS, a fallout of SPOTTED SANDPIPERs at Little Meadows with the largest
flock containing 19! individuals, AMERICAN PIPIT, and 2 RED-BREASTED
MERGANSERs. Probably the best bird of the day came in the form of an adult
BLACK-CROWNED-NIGHT HERON on the C/O Canal at North Branch in Allegany
County, the bird was located on the canal north of the western edge of the
tarps. The Brewster's was found at Cranesville and was singing a typical
Golden-winged song, it was a first generation type- mostly white with yellow
across the chest and no mask. In another area we found Blue-wingeds where
in the past I had only seen Golden-wingeds.

On a belated note, I spotted an adult MISSISSIPPI KITE heading N, NE at
Patuxent Wildlife Research Refuge on Tuesday 17 May about an hour and a half
before Sue found one at Fort Smallwood, I wonder how many were out and about
that day!

Comprehensive species list below-
