This morning I staked out the pond at the entrance to Western Regional
Park in Howard County, hoping to find the previously-reported Sora,
which would have been my 200th species in the county. Although I
never saw or heard the Sora, I got a very unexpected consolation prize
in the form of two LAUGHING GULLS, which flew over the small hill just
to the east of the pond. After circling briefly, they flew off to the
southeast and disappeared behind Bushy Park Elementary School (at the
corner of Carrs Mill Road and Route 97). So, I got my 200th county
bird after all!

My eBird list, for the area around the pond, is below.
