Hi all,
While trying to unwind from a tremendous birding weekend in Garrett Co. at the MOS
conference, I took a late morning walk on the biker trail in Aspen Hill. Best find was a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER that popped up on a branch, stayed a second, then flew off. It had a nice sulfur yellow belly. Not many other migrants.
A Barred Owl swooped down along the creek and caught prey, then was immediately accosted by every bird in the vicinity. It even had the boldness to hoot: who cooks for you?? Some fliedged species: Northern Cardinal, Robin, gnatcatcher, Acadian flycatcher
Purple Grackle, Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Chickadee. Many baby birds calling.
