A stern yellow-breasted chat popped up at 1:15 pm EDT today (the 29th) nearly too close for focussing on the right (north) side of the final approach to the far end of the boardwalk on Assateague Island National Seashore's Life of the Marsh Trail. A respectable screech owl imitation intended for a highly uncooperative white-eyed vireo drew the chat to the top of a sea of something like bayberry for a quick high-noon scowl.

Bear in mind this bird enjoys the protection of the National Seashore's stiff $15 entry fees.
