For the last several years, I have had 3 pairs of Gold Finches using my
feeder year-round. Suddenly, I am not seeing any of them at all (and the
feed is not disappearing as fast as normal). I don't remember that happening
in the previous years. Their disappearance coincides with a pair of Crows
using my bird baths to soak dead nestlings (and eggs) on a multiple time
per day basis. I am hoping that the Crows have not run-off or killed the
Gold Finches.
Don't worry.
Observation of species behavior requires a longer time than three years.
The Goldfinches will return but may not necessarily be the ones that you
think are "yours".
Your concerns will be happily resolved as time moves on.
