I went out to Mellwood Road this afternoon to look for the Dickcissel and Willow Flycatchers found yesterday by Mikey Lutmerding. John Dennehey was there when I arrived and we listened and watched for the next 45 minutes or so. The Northern Bobwhite called repeatedly from nearby. We also heard the Dickcissel singing periodically and heard a Willow Flycatcher once. Also seen or heard were an Orchard Oriole, Yellow-breasted Chat, Common Yellowthroat, lots of Chimney Swifts, a group of Mockingbirds, and several Grasshopper Sparrows. I stayed for awhile after John left, and eventually I got a somewhat distant scope view of the singing male Dickcissel atop a low perch. And I briefly got a view of the Willow Flycatcher in a shrubby willow.
