One adult Black-crowned Night Heron has been present at Schoolhouse Pond the last two mornings. The bird is located in the same tree where I reported two night herons a few weeks back (a large tree on the lefthand side of the short boardwalk leading to the office townhouses). The bird is perched about 20 or 30 feet up on a large branch well away from the trunk. It was also present during my lunchtime walk. Also of interest was a pair of Baltimore Orioles vigorously harrassing an American Crow. The pair dived at the crow repeatedly, flying around it and calling loudly. The crow eventually flew off. An Acadian Flycatcher gave a similar welcome to a Catbird. I also got good views of a Great-crested Flycatcher near the rear observation platform and the 1st year Orchard Oriole singing from its usual snag along the rear of the pond.
