I ran across a cooperative and very vocal Dickcissel at about 10am this
morning while surveying the Smithsburg BBS route in Frederick Co.  The
bird was on Blacks Mill Road in the section bounded by Layman/Wilhide
Roads (to the west) and Creagerstown Road (to the east) -- exact
coordinates: 39.574118,-77.375774.  This is about 10 miles north
of Frederick as the raven flies.

At the site, there's a large pond on the north side of the road and an
agricultural field on the south side. Between these two, right at the
edge of the road, are a few large trees. The bird was in the top of the
east-most tree for the entire 3 min. that I was there. I expect that he's
made a habit of singing from this spot so he probably wouldn't be
difficult to relocate for those interested.
