Last week 6-27 thru 7 -2 for a researcher at the Wye Research Center and in cooperation the Chester River Association Walter Ellison and myself did some breeding bird surveys of some 12 sites in Kent county and Queen Annes County. Sites were of planted Switch Grass plots\buffers on Priviate Farms. One side comment the plots that were pure thick and lush Switch Grass and standing over headhigh held very little birds . The plots that had mixed vegetation held many more birds . Common species of these areas were Red Winged Blackbirds, Common yellowthroat, Indigo Buntings and Blue Grosbeaks. But we did find some good birds in as well as out of the plots exact locations will not be given out as all are privite and most not near the roads anyway. Highlights and interesting sightings below
