Hello Everyone,

Due to construction, Kinfman Island in the District has been closed for most of the year, but reopened recently.  I made a late morning bike trip out to see if anything was around.  Most of the birds were understandably inactive, but there were a few highlights:

White-eyed Vireo
Laughing Gull
3 Great Egrets

Unfortunately, my nemisis Yellow-crowned Nightheron was no where to be found, and inspite of low tide, no shorebirds decided to make an early trip to DC.

Otherwise, the usual suspects were about in pretty good numbers, and have been inputted into eBird under the Kingman Island hotspot.

P.S. the male RUDDY DUCK is still at the McMillian resevoir in DC and was pretty close to the northwestern fence near the intersection of Harvard St. and 5th St. NW.
