I stopped by Bladensburg Waterfront Park this morning before work. The water
level on the Anacostia was really low which created a bigger than usual mud
flat for waders and shorebirds to gather. Included were my first Least
Sandpiper of the fall migration, 23 Killdeer both young and old, eight Great
Blue Herons, three Great Egrets, one Green Heron, and one Black-crowned
Night-Heron, which flew down river and landed in a small inlet just south of
the park.
