In the early part of the day (9:00 am- 1:15 pm), met a Park Ranger on the trail today and had a nice talk. Took pictures of a Northern Watersnake, saw a Black Rat Snake, and took pictures of a snake skeleton.
In the evening (7:15-8:15 pm), returned with Jay Sheppard. Jay confirmed there were at least 3 immature Little Blue Heron. The Northern Watersnake was still in the same area that I had seen her twice earlier in the day. The skeleton was a snake skeleton - part of its body was skeletal, while the tail was not (I thought the tail had been that of a skink). We both heard a juvenile Great Horned Owl begging for food.
