Hi All,

This was mentioned in an earlier email by Wayne, but I want to make sure those birding the Anacostia River (DC and Maryland) know these guys are around.

While searching for Least Terns, I saw two American Avocets in breeding plumage flying upriver.  I was on the south shore of the river near the Pennsylvania Ave. bridge when I saw them around 10:15 am.  Wayne came by a little later and we went to Kingman Island to see if they had landed in the marshes, but had no luck.  Tide was high, so who knows where they eventually landed either in DC or more likely MD.

Good Birding everyone,

Jason Berry
Washington, DC
