I had an early morning meeting in Newark (Worcester County) at the Board of Ed, so I decided to quickly try for the Ibis trifecta. Unfortunately a large tree had fallen during the storms last night, blocking the road about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile before the marsh area.

FYI.

While I was there, the Northern Bobwhite were vocal (one was in the road), and moments later, two Wild Turkey crossed the road while I was leaving. I didn't ask them why.

Non-bird-related Question:
Anyone have any thoughts on trying to help neighborhood Red Foxes with the mange? MD DNR says to just let them die and it is because there are too many foxes. The guy who answered the phone had no interest in discussing the subject, so I said thanks and goodbye. Now I don't necessarily buy his response, but understand it is interfering with nature, but...

There are two foxes in my neighborhood that look like they've got it. The community association asked me to look into possible treatments / help / protocol for helping our foxes.

Thoughts? I welcome any off-list.

Good Birding,

Dan
