HI all,

We went down to Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens and then, Anacostia Park to
look for the previously-reported LEAST TERNS which would be a new DC
bird for Barry.

We found one Least Tern at the park, it was perched on a piling on the
west side of the river in a marina about 200 yards north of Sousa Bridge
(PA Ave.). It was just about opposite a blue porta-potty along the
newly-constructed bike trail in the park.

Birds of interest at Anacostia:

Osprey (2 on nest)
Laughing Gull (2)
Forster's Tern (2 immatures)
LEAST TERN (1 adult)
Killdeer

KAG was quiet but we did see:

Chimney Swift (50+, nice to see this many)
Ruby-throated Hummingbird (1)
Belted Kingfisher (1)
Eastern Kingbird (1)
Eastern Phoebe (3)
Warbling Vireo (2)
Red-eyed Vireo (1)
Common Yellowthroat (5)
Orchard Oriole (2)
Indigo Bunting (2)

We also treid to do Kingman Lake but the gate to the park was still shut
after 9 AM and a security guard in a jeep chased us out, saying the
parking lot was "closed" -- someone needs to look into this. I did tell a
NPS person about this while at Anacostia.
