I just got back from a conference in Halifax and was crossing my fingers that the White Ibises found by Jim Green at Beauvue Ponds in St. Mary's would still be there. Jane Kostenko and I arrived at Abell's Wharf Road about 8:15 and I saw a Great Egret on the near side of the pond in line with the house with the garages facing pond 1. When I put the scope on it, foraging on the grass around it were the 4 immature White Ibises. Score! We watched them for about 20 minutes then they wandered down the slope toward the pond and out of sight.

If you go, you'll need to be patient. DO NOT drive down Fox's Point Road. This is clearly marked private and there are already tenuous relations with the residents. We don't want to jeopardize this excellent birding spot for everyone else. Thanks!
