If anybody is planning on looking for the White Ibises at Beauvue Ponds in St. Mary's, first try scoping from Abell's Wharf Road. If you are unsuccessful there, go back out to Medley's Neck Road and turn left. After about 100 yards, there's a driveway on the pond side where you have a different vantage point of the ponds. It's possible that the ibises are just downslope enough near the water that they're not visible from one spot but maybe from the other? Jane and I got really lucky Saturday morning as they were up on the edge of the pond in clear view. Timing is everything.

Hi all,
Anna Urciolo and I went down to Charles Co, MD this morning to look for the White Ibis.  We did no see them at Rose Hill pond, so we went over to the Courthouse pond and there they were!  Third try for me.  Then we went over to the Port Tobacco Marina and did find the spot where the Fallons saw the Godwits and Willet.  We had two Little Blue Herons, Great Blue Heron and two Killdeer plus about 15 Mallards.  We left for a short while and returned to find the Little Blue Herons gone.  Since Anna had not seen the White Ibis at Beauvue ponds, we went down there.  Jim Staz was already there.  We saw Canada Geese, but no Ibis.
Hot day.
