Actually, Tridelphia and Brown's Bridge were both pretty good condition 
last week and the former hosted quite a nice selection of the commoner 
shorebirds. Brown's Bridge also looks good although not much there 
when we checked it out -- we may do it again today as the rain could have 
brought some species in.

Other places to look for shorebirds such as plovers and uppies include 
turf farms along River Road, which can be more easily scoped than 
Summit Hall, the one bordering the canal.

In addition to Jim G's excellent comments, I'd also like to point out 
that the Montgomery Bird Club website has info on how to use eBird to 
identify locations in a specific county that are good for any target 
species you are interested in.  Here is the link:

Searching eBird will show that the past couple of years two of the best 
places in the county for shorebirds have been Triadelphia Reservoir at 
the end of Triadelphia Lake Rd. (follow the trail from the parking lot 
north about half a mile) and Browns Bridge at the intersection of Browns 
Bridge Rd. and Ednor Rd.  But both of these areas are only good when 
water levels are quite low--which hasn't been the case until around 
September in recent years.
