Lisa and I hit a few hotpsots over on the Eastern Shore late this morning and this afternoon, with an eye to finding shorebirds and filling a few holes in my year list. Lucky to have a spouse who shares and supports my habit!

We started at the turf farm on John Brown Road, in QA County, which was quiet save for 14 Killdeer. Pickering Creek Audubon Center proved much more productive, with at least 7 STILT SANDPIPERS and a Short-Billed Dowitcher along with large numbers of Least Sandpipers and Lesser Yellowlegs. It was nice to hear a singing Grasshopper Sparrow nearby as well.

Knowing we would hit beach traffic on our return (we did), we nonetheless barrelled down to Salisbury Airport, where we quickly located a distant UPLAND SANDPIPER as viewed from near the green Shell refueling terminal mentioned in previous posts. There may well have been more Uppies around, but the heat haze (and heat) made for difficult viewing.

 Good Birding!
