MD Osprey:

The MD/DC Records Committee recently completed first-round reviews of
the July-August 2009 Brown Booby reports that were submitted to the
committee. Of the five reports submitted, one of them was accepted
after the first round of voting. The accepted record [MD/2009-079] is
of the bird sitting on the beach at Assateague Island, photographed
on 03 Aug 2009 by Nat Donkin of the National Park Service. The report
was published in North American Birds 64(1):51 (2010). The photos can
be viewed here ...

No decisions were reached yet on the other four reports after the
first round of voting so they will be recirculated for further
evaluation and additional rounds of voting.

This record brings the total number of species on The Official List
of the Birds of Maryland to 437. The updated Maryland list has not
yet been published on the committee's web page, but it will be shortly.

Good (August) birding!

Phil
