Everyone,

I have a request for anyone who posts about Swan Creek in the future. Please include some form of this paragraph at the bottom of your e-mail. I have done this nearly every time, but I failed to do so yesterday. If we do not self-police on people following the rules, our odds of losing this precious access increase exponentially. Bobbi, thanks for asking for details. Dan Haas just e-mailed me about someone who is standing in the north cell at Swan Creek. It doesn't take too many people breaking the rules to ruin exceptional access like this. Almost every great access we've lost has been due to something exactly like this person in the north cell. Not only is it against the rules, but accessing these areas during active operations is dangerous and probably illegal. Also note that trespassing here outside of open hours will definitely result in police action and a $500 trespassing fine. There are video cameras.

Please include some version of this quote in all posts about Swan Creek to ensure as many people as possible see it:

*** NOTE: Swan Creek/Cox Creek is an active industrial site and mitigation project in northern Anne Arundel Co. Access is at the end of Kembo Road off
Fort Smallwood Road near 695. The site is open ONLY Monday through Friday,
7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please be in your car and leaving at 3:30 p.m.. Remember to always sign in at the office, to be on your best behavior (people have worked hard to coordinate this access), and to stick to
permitted areas. This Swan Creek map linked here details where
you are and aren't allowed to walk. http://www.billhubick.com/docs/swan_creek_map.jpg. ***

Thanks!

Bill
