This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
The summary of bird observations that follows was taken by permission
from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and MD Port Administration, August
2011, Fauna Monitoring Report for the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration
Project at Poplar Island.
Highlights include a fledgling Yellow-crowned Night Heron, Peregrine
Falcon, Greater Yellowlegs, Black Tern, almost 1000 Common Terns,
Kingfisher, Eastern Kingbird, two Carolina Wrens and American Goldfinch.
Weather: Clear Early am, Partly Cloudy Thereafter
Temp: degrees F 80-92
