Hi all,

Barry and I have reserved another birding trip out to Poplar Island (Talbot
Co.) for Wednesday, September 7. Since we will be out of town, DAN HAAS has
graciously volunteered to coordinate the trip for us. You can respond to us
or directly to Dan (see email addresses below).

This is a good time of year for migrating shorebirds, especially juveniles,
as well as possible goodies such as Baird's Sandpiper. The state boat will
take us to the island, they will drive us around in a bus (stopping where we
want to look at birds) and then take us back -- all free. Must be the best
value in town!

The meeting place is the same as before -- at the state dock at Tilghman
Island. The Maryland Department of Environment¹s boat will leave this dock
promptly at 9.00 a.m. to Poplar Island. You should plan to arrive at the
dock at no later than 8.45 a.m. and should allow about 1 1/2 hours from the
Washington Beltway to the dock, allowing for rush-hour traffic and possible
Bay Bridge tie-ups. (If you arrive early, there is often good birding at
Blackwalnut Point at the southern end of the island, especially during
migration.)

You will be sent a map and any further details about a week before the trip.

Space is limited so let us know if you want to come. Please also give us
your cell phone # as well in case of last-minute problems:

GAIL MACKIERNAN --

Best,
Gail Mackiernan and Barry Cooper
