Hi All,

I guess today (8-22-11) was a good day for "blacks", since I saw a Black
Tern and 4 Black Skimmers at Point Lookout. The Black Tern was trying
to perch on one of the poles of the pound nets off the boat launch
entrance, but was chased away each time by an assortment of birds from
cormorants to Forster's Terns. The Black Skimmers were seen as they
cruised through the pond went around the point and up the bay.

Warblers observed were: a Waterthrush (I think Northern, but not a good
view), Common Yellowthroat, Northern Parula, American Redstart,
Black-and-White, Pine, Magnolia, and Hooded. The mosquitos were very
intimidating or more may have been seen. Other birds of interest were:
Gray Catbird, Yellow-throated Vireo, Western Sandpiper, Spotted
Sandpiper, Caspian Tern, and Belted Kingfisher.

Good Birding,
Patty Craig
