I had a productive day in Charles County despite little passerine migration. The highlight of the day was an American Avocet at Allen's Fresh Marsh. George Jett was able to get down there about an hour later and found a second bird as well before they flew off.

I started the day at Maxwell Hall Park near Benedict. The best bird was a Least Flycatcher. I also had 2 Chestnut-sided Warblers.

After Allen's Fresh, I went to the end of Morgantown Rd. I couldn't find any interesting terns among the many Royal and Forester's terns. The turf farm has been turned over and has good potential shorebird habitat, especially for Buff-breasted Sandpipers and plovers. Today the best I could do was 10 Semipalmated Plovers and 2 Lesser Yellowlegs along with the usual Killdeer.

I ended the day with a river watch at Marshall Hall. The tern flight was impressive, with 6 Caspian Terns, 100+ Forester's Terns and 2 Black Terns. My last bird of the day was a Common Nighthawk.
