I went out looking for grasspipers this morning.  The polo grounds on Hughes Rd had no birds at all.  Patton Turf Farm was a bit more productive - around 50 Killdeer and a Pectoral Sandpiper. They were in the field that has traditionally hosted grasspipers, which is the one after the large field on the way to Whites Ferry.  I drove back and then hiked up the canal to view Summit Hall and found a Buff-breasted Sandpiper, a beautifully scalloped juvenile, with a flock of Killdeer and a single juv Least Sandpiper.  It was initially distant and seen first in flight and then came in closer.

Non-avians of interest were two Fox Squirrel at the junction of Edwards Ferry and River Rd.

Good birding
