On Sunday I spent most of the day looking for shorebirds in the mid and
lower Eastern Shore. I ended up spending about 2.5 hours at Hurlock WWTP,
which was the only productive spot among those checked. At Hurlock there were 4
continuing BLACK TERNS (foraging over the SW pond and roosting on cables
in the SE pond). Most of the good shorebirds were along the northern edge of
the NW pond with a few along the dikes. Repeated scans did not produce a
Baird's but there were some nice birds:

Killdeer - 12
Greater Yellowlegs - 1
Lesser Yellowlegs - 2
Spotted Sandpiper - 4
Semipalmated Sandpiper - ~250
WESTERN SANDPIPER - 6 (3 adults, one with an exceptionally long bill, and
3 pretty juveniles with bright rusty scapulars)
Least Sandpiper - ~50
WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER - 4 (1 crisply marked juvenile and 3 adults in
mostly basic plumage)
Pectoral Sandpiper - group of 5 on the dike
STILT SANDPIPER - 1 juvenile

I checked spots in Wicomico County including the Plantations and the turf
farms north of Salisbury but found 0 shorebirds. From there I went down to
Fairmont WMA where I checked the Lower Hill Road impoundment but found water
levels too high for any shorebirds.

During the morning hours BOBOLINKS were heard and/or seen at many locations
throughout Talbot, Caroline, Dorchester and Wicomico Counties.
