Hey everyone,

Jared Satchell and birded the John Brown Rd Turf Farm in QA County
this evening. There was a large shore bird flock present on the east
side of the farm on the south side of the road. When we first arrived
around 6:20pm the birds were feeding in a puddle in the grass.
Shorebirds were coming and going throughout our 45 minute stay. The
highlight was a flyover Hudsonian Godwit. I first heard the bird
calling and we were able to get on the bird as it flew low (about 30
ft high) directly overhead. The long bill and dark underwings were
easily viewed. Best of all the godwit called constantly as it flew
over. The godwit spooked the entire shorebird flock which eventually
joined the godwit in flight circling a few times to the north and
eventually flew out of sight to the north together in one large flock.
The shorebirds that were counted during our stay included

Semipalmated Plover -- 3
Killdeer -- 4
Least Sandpiper -- 2
Semipalmated Sandpiper -- 12
White-rumped Sandpiper -- 8
Baird's Sandpiper -- 1
Pectoral Sandpiper -- 9
Greater Yellowlegs -- 2
Lesser Yellowlegs -- 6

Other birds at the turf farm

Cooper's Hawk -- 1
Laughing Gull -- 35
Chipping Sparrow -- 3
Bobolink -- 4 all flyovers

In a horse pasture off of Goodhand Creek Rd on Kent Island we had 25
Cattle Egrets feeding in the pasture.
