With all the rain lately I suspect there has been a big backup of nighthawks to the north. I would expect that tonight there should be a good movemnt (possibly the the last big one of the year), As far ss the time of day: nighthawks have probably had a hard time finding food and under such circumstances they come out early in the afternoon.
