Hello All,
Did some scouting close to home yesterday . Started at Cedar Hill Cemetary in Brooklyn . Hoping for cool mushrooms to photograph . I had some really giant colorful ones few years ago there but none there yet. Did find lots of small ones. Only birds heard or seen were 11 Canada Geese. The entire south side of the cemetary is lined with Osage orange trees. Ground is covered with green balls.  Not sure if this will attract any birds .Will keep check .
Stopped next at BWI bike trail Dorsey road Recreation area . Many mushrooms not many birds. Heard only Cardinal , Catbird , C wren , Towhee .
Next stop ... BWI Catwalk  . Was trying to get to eastside of the Marc Station and tried parking at different area and getting to it . This didnt work but new spot will be added to list of spots as it was a bit productive and has potential . It is marked as a spot on ebird and ive read about it but this is my first visit . So i parked in lot on Stoney Run road and found that i had to walk back up Stoney road to the Maryland Transportation building and cut thru their parking area to get to the Catwalk. Fun walking the Catwalk  above the trees and seeing everything. There is a wetland below . NO flyunders!!! Very surprised not to see more birds here but did get nice size flock of Chipping Sparrows . Couldnt turn one into something else . They were very active on the ground just before the Wetland area.
Now im more excited to go on my trip to Florida in December and going to the Catwalk at Myakka State Park . I just read something about a woman who helped with conservation in another country and has helped with getting these built to observe the wildlife and preserve the habitat  . Guess some of you have already been to some of these.
From here checked Race road for bugs . Found none. .
Then went to look for shorebirds reported at Housing developement on Ilchester .Found only Solitary sandpiper and Great blue heron at flood area . but did find trees there dripping with Grackles. I dont think ive ever seen the trees so full of action . Well maybe once on Egypt road  near Blackwater. Believe the Grackles were eating something from the trees and then all headed toward the river. Maybe all going to SWAP for the night .
Lastly Rockburn . Huge ballgame traffic at the ballfields so went around to the Mongomery road entrance to sit and eat dinner .
This proved hard to do as there was decent bird action here. Some flycatchers at the tops of the dead treetops near the Mansion , then the unidentified Hawk and a Common Nighthawk which kept me looking for the 20 or 30 that should have been with it . But nooooo  just the 1 !!!! Though i was glad to at least see that .
