Hello All,
I did a Tern watch this evening from Fort Armistead . Finally this time i saw Black Terns . Started seeing Terns coming up river about 630 . All heading straight for the South Baltimore Harbor area. From my experience there about week and half ago they roost with the gulls both on the left of the harbor and the right. My estimation being Masonville Cove and  Fells Point . Im sure anyone watching in the morning from Ft .Armistead or Harbor Hospital parking lot will see many there. Terns were easily counted as they all were doing direct flight past and not lingering in circles or going back and forth . Problem though is Terns all looked the same except first couple that went past that i thought could be Black Terns disappeared behind the small tree i happened to have parked beside. So i moved my car to the left side of the tree and was able to get longer view of the many that continued coming. Counted 28 . .. guessing the first couple were Black
Tern but if not then 25 Forsters/Common 1 Caspian and 2 Black Tern that were the last to come thru . Was able to see the dark on the upper side of the wings and they were smaller and flappier than all the others. Suppose with a little light i could have distinquished bill colors and whether gray or white backed better but was able to tell by shape and wing flaps that only one was a Caspian and 2 were Black Terns .
If these are migrating Terns and not local then how do they all know to go to roost at the Harbor ? Just saying ...
Also believed i may have seen the White Ibis flying over the north side of the Key Bridge and head toward Sparrows Point . Maybe  should use a scope next time .
