This is more a trail report than a bird report. Much of the trail on the stream side is flooded, at least 8" deep in one stretch. Three more large trees have fallen since the post-Irene cleanup, one too high and large for me to go under or over, so I bushwhacked around it. The bridge remains smashed in one section; while there are posts and handrails to grasp, the slippery boards make for risky travel. (Steve's bench at the place where the trail turns to go uphill was smashed by Irene.)

That said, there were some good birds. The best flock was along the stream where the trail encloses a small circle. I probably missed some species due to poor light and poor skills, but most of the warblers I saw were there. I followed the flock downstream for awhile, so I was conservative with numbers; I don't really think I saw five Black-and-white Warblers, just the same one over and over again.

It's certainly worthwhile birding there, if one is properly prepared.
