I went to Swan Creek during lunch today and had a Buff-breasted Sandpiper on the east dike of the north cell. There were few shorebirds actually in the cells, but when a truck drove along the dike, a large flock got up. I could see the Buffie in flight as it flew around with the peeps and got a good look again when it landed on the gravel, but soon walked into the grasses where I could no longer see it. Later, I saw it (another?) farther down the dike and when another truck flushed them, I thought I saw two.
Be patient, I was there 15 minutes before I saw any birds on the dike and I waited for a while afterwards and couldn't find the Buffies again once they landed in the grasses.
