Lured to this venue by a beautiful day following rather dreary conditions
of previous days, I arrived at 0900 for a leisurely 3 hr. walk, hoping for
some dramatic warbler/migrant sightings. Unfortunately, this rather
depauperant environment for a good spread of warbler species lived up
to expectations, yielding only several MD YELLOWTHROAT and a
very good [FOS] BLACKPOLL WARBLER, found feeding in desultory
fashion in and under a Butterfly Bush [Buddleia], which sported a good
variety of the Lepidoptera. Also notable were B KINGFISHER, BALD
EAGLE [imm-1st yr.?], RT Hawks, BW Hawks [Jim Meyers should have
a full report later], a few COOPER'S HAWKS, an E PHOEBE, GRAY
CATBIRD [my last?] and a SCARLET TANAGER. Full list follows:
