I birded/reconnoitered the trail that links the Fran Uhler Natural Area
and the WB&A Trail. The trail is in fairly good shape with one major wash
out. It was very birdy. The highlights included both Cuckoo sp., 7 sp.
warblers and six species of woodpeckers, including 3 (1 imm) Red-headed at the
swamp near the end of the trail where it connects with the WB&A Trail.

If you go look for these RHWPs, be advised: the recent rains have produced
enormous numbers of mosquitos along the river bottom near the Patuxent. I
have never been besieged by more mosquitos in Maryland than this morning.
Do me a favor- If you find of troop of Boy Scouts lying by the trail with
all their blood sucked out, give us a decent burial.
