Tree Swallows were abundant at Cushwa Basin, Williamsport, yesterday, and
downstream to just shy of the I-81 bridge. I loggec 248, but I'm sure
that is gross underestimate. But the group I led for the C&O Canal
Association also noted three Northern Rough-winged Swallows, one perching
nicely for photos. And at the mouth of the stream at Cushwa, there was a
lone Barn Swallow perched with several dozen Trees on a snag.

Also of note, a Common Raven was heard. We also had an Eastern
Wood-Peewee and 16 Chimney Swifts, getting late for those two species. A
Mute Swan has apparently settled in the basin, and it appears to be
dumping spot for unwanted waterfowl. I noted by the river two white
domestic geese, a Muscovy, and what appeared to be a svelte Graylag Goose,
not one of the dumpy domestic types.
