During my morning walk at Schoolhouse Pond, I got close views of a Lincoln's Sparrow low in the shrubby underbrush at the edge of the pond. The sparrow was foraging with a mixed flock of birds (mostly cardinals) near the sharp turn in the boardwalk along the righthand side of the pond (when looking from Governor Oden Bowie Drive). Although it popped into view nicely when I first came upon the flock, it did not respond to pishing after the initial view. It was fairly quiet otherwise, although I did get views of a flyover Pileated Woodpecker, calling Eastern Phoebe, immature Double-crested Cormorant, and three Chimney Swifts. The rear of the pond is still closed due to debris from the recent flooding.
