Join the Kent County Bird Club for our annual Big Sit on Sunday, 9
October. We will be watching from the Tubby Cove platform at Eastern
Neck NWR from dawn to mid-afternoon. The view encompasses the western
end of Eastern Neck Narrows, Tubby and Calfpasture coves, and the sweep
of the Bay toward Baltimore on the horizon. Bald Eagles, Caspian and
Royal Terns and a fair selection of waterfowl are usually around for
much of the day, while other migrants pass at unpredictable intervals.

Observers are welcome to stop by for a few minutes or a couple of hours
to check on progress and help scan the sky and waters for new species to
add to the list. Note that birds are most active in the first part of
the morning, so that is usually the most productive time to visit. We
usually see around 55 to 60 bird species, although we tallied 67 species
during the 2008 Big Sit, the second-highest total reported for Big Sit
locations in Maryland that year.

We hope to see you on Sunday.

Observing Nature is like unwrapping a big pile of presents every time
you take a walk. (or sit for a spell, in this case)
