I have the impression that while arrival dates of wintering species vary year to year, the spread of dates within a broad guild of species is much less - sort of like going back to school: opening day varies but you see all your old friends on the same day.

So it was today and y'day: in the yard today, FOS Y-b Sapsucker and Ruby-crown Kinglet; y'day in W. Friendship Park,  2 Palm Warbers, 2 White-Cr Sparrows, many Wh-thr Sparrows, and 1 Lincoln's Sparrow, while near-by at Gillis Falls Park (in Carroll Co), 2 Winter Wrens. Probably weather patterns effect a certain synchrony. Have other readers noticed this?

Also here today in migrant-scarce CV CO, a Black-poll Warbler was a nice treat.

Btw, last hummer day here was Oct 4.
