Today was my first Big Sit Day at the Oxbow and probably my biggest day ever for shorebirds. There's a good amount of mud for the shorebirds that fed continously for the five hours I watched them. Had one Wilson's Snipe. 

If you like Blue-winged Teal and seeing them fly, then today would have been a great day to be at the Oxbow.

Comments: I got a late start but was there from 1:30-6:30 pm. Conditions: , 70-72 °F, Clear  Humidity: 73%, Wind: Calm, Visibility: 10.0 miles, Dew Point: 62 °F, precipitation: 3% Chance of Rain, Pressure: 30.29 in, UV: 0.  Towards the early evening, light wispy clouds began to appear overhead, but for the most part the sky was clear blue.

Blue-winged Teal  36     Initially was watching the teal as they were feeding 
near the mud with the shorebirds. Because they were in and out of the 
vegetation, was hard to determine how many were actually there. Then at one 
point, they all picked up and flew. Counted them in flight and then several 
times as they fed in open water. In flight, they all showed a bold powder-blue 
patch on their upperwing coverts.

Spotted Sandpiper  1     Had at least one Spotted Sandpiper. Bobbed its tail and 
rear end up and down as it walked.

Lesser Yellowlegs  28    Medium-sized (smaller than a Greater), long, bright yellow legs, 
long neck and bill, white rump and tail showed in flight. They fed all day long 
on the mud and I counted them in flight when they all picked up and flew 
together to the area of the Egret Tree. They came and went several times during 
the course of the afternoon.
