My birding friend and I took a walk from Great Falls up to near Swains Lock
this afternoon and came back on the river trail.
About half-way down we flushed a  big bunch of Wood Ducks from  the Maryland
shore into the river over near Conn Island.
We both counted 40 or more Wood Ducks in this group, including several
bright males.
 A nice treat on an otherwise sleepy afternoon.
