Although I only started birding at 9am today, I had a very good morning / early afternoon at Terrapin Beach Park on Kent Island. I saw 9 warbler species, including an Orange-crowned. I have had this species here before but was not expecting it yet. I'll take it. The CT I was expecting, however, still has not showed! :) Other fall arrivals (for me) included a Lincoln's Sparrow seen well but briefly at the back of the big meadow, keeping company (loosely) with Song Sparrows, Common Yellowthroats, a seemingly latish Blue Grosbeak, and my first Winter Wren of fall migration. Blackpolls may have been the most abundant warbler I encountered, probably reaching double digits. I also saw 2 or 3 Tennessee Warblers, several Magnolias and N. Parulas, 1 Bay-breasted, and my first Yellow-rumps of the fall, although only about 6-8 so far. I also encountered my first White-throated Sparrows, several Ruby-crowned Kinglets, and a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. Another highlight was great close-up looks at approx. 16 Wood Ducks from within one of the blinds on the pond. A perched adult Bald Eagle was also watching! Full list below.
