Hi all,

I birded various spots in St Mary's County on Saturday October 15th.  The
best bird of the day was the CLAY-COLORED SPARROW that was just north of the
picnic area at Point Lookout State Park (thanks for getting the word out
Tyler!) the bird was loosely associating with a group of SONG SPARROWs.  The
wind made viewing conditions over the bay difficult, but I did spot a close
southbound RUDDY TURNSTONE just before sunrise.  There was decent warbler
diversity including small groups of CAPE MAY WARBLERs, BLACK-THROATED BLUEs,
and a YELLOW-BREATED CHAT.  PALM WARBLERs (both yellow and western) were
also around in good numbers at many locations.  Longneck Road hosted a large
TREE SWALLOW flock that contained 2 NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWs and a
BANK SWALLOW.  I headed West checking Piney Point where I found a single
juv. LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL within the loafing gull flock.  St. George's
Island was quite productive even with the wind, I was able to locate 2
NELSON'S SPARROWs and 2 unidentified NELSON'S/SALTMARSH SPARROWs, the latter
were too distant to ID, none of the birds perched in the open for very
long.  Another great day in St. Mary's!!
