Hi all--
I went out solo to WRP as I hadn't been there for over a week (bad
weather, 3-day weekend of dog shows, getting ready to go away again) so
was pleased at how active things were. About 8 AM there was a large
diurnal passage which (besides the expected Robins and Blue Jays)
included a flock of 25+ Bluebirds overhead calling, and another 10-12
which perched briefly in a walnut tree to be admired. In fact I heard/saw
twos and threes of bluebirds overhead off and on all morning. Several
rapidly moving flocks of small passerines, dominated by kinglets and tits
but a few warblers with them. Pine Lake was uncharactistically devoid of
birds. I did the park down to the lake and then around Brookside Nature
Ctr. which was, alas, noisy because of leaf-blowers!
Definitely a chance in the mix -- only ONE Catbird and no Flickers at all.
Still 8 species of warbler though numbers getting thin on the ground.
