I did some birding between classes at St. Mary's College today and had some decent sightings. This morning, I visited a dump/brush pile near the athletic fields that has been a good spot for sparrows in the past. I saw several Song Sparrows, two Chipping Sparrows, and a large number of Field Sparrows which were behaving rather aggressively towards the chippers. I also had Eastern Towhee and two FOS sparrows, one Swamp Sparrow and a rather scruffy looking White-crowned. Unfortunately, just as I was starting to get some cooperative birds, a Cooper's Hawk flew by and scared them all back into the brush. I also had four Palm Warblers, two Yellow-rumped, one Yellowthroat and a large flock of around 80 Canada Geese that flew over.

In the afternoon I briefly birded a small wooded path on campus and was fortunate enough to see several Yellow-rumped, one Tennessee Warbler, and two Black-throated Blues, including an extremely cooperative male that perched in the open about five feet in front of me, allowing for some awesome views.
