Last Friday morning, I birded the north section of E.A. Vaughn WMA,
where sparrows were present in great numbers. Most notable was a
Clay-colored Sparrow in a bush along the gravel entrance road. Later
that afternoon, I had an additional two Clay-colored Sparrows in the
small wooded area on 94th St in north Ocean City. This is a seemingly
amazing fall for this species. I haven't tallied all the reports, but it
must be over 10 individuals in Worcester County alone. Compare that with
last fall/winter when there were only a couple reports in Worcester.
Also on 94th St, I had a Least Flycatcher, which I'll post photos of on
my Flickr site.
