Hey everyone,
This ebird report is from a brief stop at Tanyard Marsh in Caroline
County. The Black-bellied Plover flock is notable because they are
quite scarce in the county. Also notable is the coot flock. This is
my high count for the species in Caroline County.
Tanyard Marsh, Caroline, US-MD
Nov 5, 2011 1:22 PM - 1:40 PM
Protocol: Traveling
1.0 mile(s)
Comments: High Tide. Many of the shorebirds were sitting on
floating vegetation. The AMCO flock is the largest I have seen in
Caroline County.
14 species
Canada Goose 189 sitting in the marsh
Green-winged Teal (American) 1
Double-crested Cormorant 1
Great Blue Heron 1
Bald Eagle 1 adult
American Coot 18 Largest flock I have seen in Caroline County.
Black-bellied Plover 6 Six birds in winter plumage sitting on
vegetation islands on the east side of the marsh. Easily scoped.
Checked to make sure that there were no AGPL. County bird for Dan and
Jared. My highest count of BBPL in Caroline County.
Killdeer 63 Large flock of KILL flew over the marsh. We were
able to carefully check the flock as it flew by and it was nothing but
KILL.
Greater Yellowlegs 5 I don't think this is that unusual for this
location at this time
Lesser Yellowlegs 7 I don't think this is that unusual for this
location at this time.
Dunlin 61 ***High Count*** A couple groups of birds observed in
